Day 20 – A Song That I Listen to When I’m Angry FAIL
Today, is a FAIL on the 30 Days of Music Challenge. I don’t get angry and say, “Oh, let me listen to this song.” The next two days will be the same. I can try to find songs that remind me of the feelings, but that’s the best I can do.
I tried Googling “angry songs“. I didn’t know any of them. I don’t associate music with anger. That’s not what music is about for me. Music is uplifting, cheerful. It keeps me happy and sane in this stupid, crazy world.
Trying to find an angry song is very negative for me. It’s like watching the news. It just promotes a bad feeling. You know I’m all into “You are what you think,” and thinking about anger is just going to get you angry.
While writing this blog entry, I’m still looking at Google, trying to find a song. Seriously, I don’t know any of them! What does this say about me? What does this say about the music and the people who listen to it?
It does seem that the people who do listen to music when they are angry listen to hard rock, metal, hip hop and the like. I don’t listen to any of that, so I’m not in the loop here.
Okay, so I switched and Googled “angry show tunes.” I know there are a few, but I just cannot think of any off the top of my head, except “Little Girls” from Annie, but that doesn’t do me any good. I’m never around little girls, so that’s not why I angry.
This is turning into an Epic Fail.
And what the heck is “Hedwig and the Angry Inch” that keeps showing up in the search results?
Oh, wait! There’s “Heaven On Their Minds” in Jesus Christ Superstar. That would work for an atheist like me. Blind faith is something that makes me angry.
I found a forum called “Unintentionally Racist Showtunes,” and they mention songs like “Ugg a Wug” from Peter Pan and “Old Man River” from Showboat. Racism makes me angry, but I wouldn’t sing these songs.
Inspiration hits me!
Okay, this isn’t really on topic as it isn’t a song I listen to when I’m angry, but I do get angry about war. I’m picking Edwin Starr’s song, War. Of all the asinine, stupid, ridiculous things mankind has ever come up with, war is at the top of the list.
Wait, religion can cause war! Isn’t that at the top of the list? Or is it just human stupidity? I guess I’m getting more angry by the minute. I guess I’ll stop now and listen to some happy songs.
